UPDATE 12/16/24: The Missions Committee thanks everyone who participated in the Salvation Army Adopt-a-Family Angel Tree project. Today, a car full of gifts—winter coats, clothing, personal care products, household items, toys, and gift cards—was delivered to the Salvation Army. Because of your generosity, this family will have a memorable Christmas.
Hannah’s Hope Project – February to April 2023
Hannah’s Hope is a transitional housing program and Christian ministry serving Reading and Berks County for homeless women and their children. When you give to Hannah’s Hope Ministries, you help a homeless mother to stabilize her life, support her children, learn new skills, and gain much-needed hope for a brighter future. It leads clients through a 12-18 month period of training, support, and assistance on job seeking and training, literacy, creation of budget, working with a case manager on Life Skills, Stress Management, Bible Studies, and other Life-Enriching opportunities.
Located on Upland Avenue, Reading, PA, they provide a beautiful setting for women who are looking to make changes for a lifetime. They offer each family a private suite, including their own bedrooms and a bath. Their large, open-concept gathering area has a living room and dining area, where families congregate for weeknight family dining, and opportunities for week-night programming for adults.
We at LPCUMC have supported this ministry in past years and have been advised again for some specific needs we can help them meet:
We are going to collect 20+ pillows and 20+ pillow protectors, along with cleaning supplies, paper towels, and toilet paper. Cash donations will be accepted as well. We will begin collecting in February and continuing into April. Donations can be brought as usual to the rear of the sanctuary where boxes and cash collection vessels can be found.
Thank you,
Jim Eckert
